Nobody Sits Alone at That Table
by Howard Harris on September 23rd, 2026
In Daddy's Little Girls, Monty James is absorbing every hit the system throws at him alone. Until he is not alone anymore. The neighborhood shows up. The witnesses refuse to testify against him. Julia walks into the wrong courtroom and cannot walk away. Nehemiah's wall was finished in community. The celebration that followed sent food to everyone who had nothing. And the vision at the center of biblical eschatology is not a series of private spiritual destinations. It is a table. A lavish banquet for all peoples. People coming from east and west and north and south to recline together with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom. Solitary religion is inconsistent with the gospel. Because the gospel ends at a table. And nobody sits alone at that one. Read the full post.  Read More

The Independence of Solitude
by Howard Harris on September 16th, 2026
Ralph Waldo Emerson identified the rarest of human capacities: the ability to be surrounded by opinion, pressure, and consensus and still know your own mind. He called it keeping the independence of solitude in the midst of the crowd. Twelve spies saw the same land. Ten came back saying it cannot be done. Two came back saying we will surely overcome it. The crowd followed the ten. It always follows the ten. Scripture says the final generation before the return of Jesus will be characterized by many being misled and most people's love growing cold. The crowd, in the last days, will include many who call themselves believers. Which means the independence of solitude is not a personality trait. It is a prophetic necessity. Twenty-Seven Hours in the Dark
by Howard Harris on September 9th, 2026
On September 11, 2001, Genelle Guzman-McMillan was trapped in the rubble of the North Tower for twenty-seven hours. Alive in the dark. Unable to move. Unable to see. With no way to know whether anyone was still looking. On September 12, a hand found hers. The ancient Jewish framework for understanding history has a name for the age we are living in. Olam Hazeh. This current age. The age of the rubble. The groaning. The twenty-seven hours. But Olam Hazeh is not the final word. Acts 3:21 says Jesus remains in heaven until the restoration of all things. All things. The rubble is not the ending. The rescue is still underway. Read the full post.  Read More

The Ruins You Stopped Seeing
by Howard Harris Jr. on September 7th, 2026
Most of us have places in our lives that used to bother us. The relationship that drifted. The habit we know is costing us something. The dream we quietly filed away. We stopped seeing the ruins because seeing them hurts and not seeing them is easier. But numbness is not healing. And the comeback begins the moment you stop being okay with things being broken.  Read More

You Are Not as Indifferent as You Think
by Howard Harris Jr. on September 2nd, 2026
Psychologists call it a defensive mechanism. Pretending to be indifferent when you actually care deeply is a way of protecting yourself from rejection, from helplessness, from the pain of wanting something you cannot control. Most people know what that feels like from the inside. Here is what they may not know. The Bible has been addressing this condition for thousands of years. And the God at the center of the eschatological story is not a deity who performed indifference while creation fell apart. He is a God whose care has been constant, purposeful, and driving the entire story toward the day He makes all things new. The comeback Nehemiah experienced did not start with a plan. It started with grief. It started when he stopped pretending. Read the full post.  Read More
