Luke 1:39-45
At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
Reflection
Elizabeth's response to Mary's visit shows that she was able to share in Mary's joy and recognize the significance of her role as the mother of Jesus. This reminds us to rejoice with others during times of blessing and be genuinely happy for them. Advent is a time of waiting and preparation, but it is also a time to celebrate the coming of our Savior. Let us keep this in mind as we journey with Mary during this season.
Action
Think of someone in your life who is experiencing a blessing or answered prayer. Contact them and express your joy for them, sharing in their excitement and rejoicing with them. Take a moment to thank God for His faithfulness and how He works in the lives of those around us.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we are grateful for the joy and blessings You bring into our lives. As we reflect on Elizabeth's response, help us to recognize and celebrate the gifts and miracles happening around us. Fill our hearts with empathy and understanding so that we may genuinely share in the happiness of others. During this Advent season, give us the courage to trust in Your plans, even when they differ from our own. Guide us to surrender our fears and embrace the life You envision for us. As we prepare for the upcoming Grace in Action Sunday, may we continue to spread Your love and light to those around us. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
