You Are Smaller Than You Think and More Loved Than You Know
Summer at the Movies | Monday Reflection | Week 7
"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?" — Psalm 8:3–4

Sunday you heard about a universe so vast and so populated that the question is not whether God is big enough to manage it. The question is how He finds time to be interested in you specifically. In your week. In the thing you are worried about. In the conversation you had yesterday that you cannot stop replaying.
Most of us bounce between two errors. We make God small enough to be manageable, a personal life coach focused entirely on our comfort and preferences. Or we make ourselves so small in the scope of everything that we stop believing our lives actually matter to Him. Neither one is accurate. Both protect us from something.
The Psalm holds both things at once without flinching. The heavens are vast. God made them. And He is mindful of you. Not despite the vastness. Inside of it. The same hand that set the stars in place is the hand that knows exactly how many hairs are on your head right now.
You are not the center of the universe. And you are not lost in it either. You are known inside it. Specifically. Personally. By name.
This week, let the size of God expand your trust rather than shrink it. The God who manages what you cannot even fully imagine is the same God who is paying attention to the details of your Tuesday. Both things are true at the same time.
The universe is not too large for Him to notice you. It never was.
