The Ruins You Stopped Seeing
Comeback | Monday Reflection | Week 1
"When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven." — Nehemiah 1:4

Sunday you heard about Nehemiah getting news that broke him open. Jerusalem was in rubble. The walls were down. The gates were burned. And the thing that should stop us cold is not the rubble. It is how long the rubble had been there before anyone wept over it.
Most of us have places in our lives that used to bother us. The relationship that drifted and we told ourselves it was fine. The habit we know is costing us something but we have made our peace with it. The dream we quietly filed away because the gap between where we are and where we wanted to be got too uncomfortable to keep looking at. We stopped seeing the ruins because seeing them hurts and not seeing them is easier.
Here is what I want you to sit with this week. The fact that something stopped hurting does not mean it stopped mattering. Numbness is not healing. Getting used to something broken is not the same as it being okay.
Nehemiah wept. And then he prayed. And then he moved.
You do not have to have a plan yet. You do not have to know how the wall gets rebuilt. But you do have to be honest about which ruins you have gotten too comfortable walking past.
This week, name one. Just one. Not to fix it today. Just to stop pretending it is not there.
The comeback begins the moment you stop being okay with things being broken.
